Dasken is a combo of the names of my parents, Hadassah and Ken.
The art studio is located at The Mills in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, a building home to many local artisans and small businesses. You will find me there creating stained glass, jewelry or painting.
I have LOTS of interests and it was a bumpy path before I ended up a fine arts major at Brandeis University. After college I moved from Boston, MA to San Francisco, CA and tried to find my footing there, but eventually came back to the east coast for graduate school. I returned to Brandeis for a post-bac program in painting then worked in a variety of interesting jobs (including grant writing for non-profits and VP for a market research firm) and in 2001, I started a graduate program in Arts Administration at Boston University (completed 1 year). Throughout all these enriching experiences, I spent many late nights working on paintings and various art projects.
In 2012, I took a leap and started the adventure as a full-time artist.
I'm in the studio most week days and on weekends from May thru December, I shift gears and pack up my tent, tables and newest work and travel to sell my art at festivals throughout New England.* It is an honor and a labor of love being able to create art by hand and then interact directly with people who appreciate and value the work that goes into each piece. I love what I do and I hope you do too.
